The notion that there were social, military and administrative failings in the years 800 to 814 that permits one to consider the period as one of failed hopes and ambitions has now been sufficiently rebuffed. I have a lot of music stored on my r4i that I barely listen to, and in all honesty Fleet Foxes are there un-listened-to. I might have to change that now though!

Fleet Foxes are a group of six guys from Seattle who create some pretty beautiful folk rock. Their debut self-titled album came out in 2008 and catapulted them into indie rock fame, and they've continued on with their success with follow-up EP 'Sun Giant' and into 2011 with this new album.

They're a real radio-friendly kind of band, you hear them quite a lot on the radio or on adverts or TV programs, they're just that kinds of pretty happy easy listening kind of band!

Following the September 11 attacks on the USA, Putin permitted the establishment of coalition military bases in Central Asia both before and during the USA-led invasion of Afghanistan. Many Russian nationalists had expected Putin to keep the USA outside the Central Asian republics and objected vigorously to the establishment of any form of US presence on any territories of the Soviet Union.

The Cuba Libre is a wonderful cocktail which consists of cola, lime and white rum. It is uncertain just who invented the drink and when this was and there exist many competing claims. One account posits that the Cuba Libre was invented in Havana, Cuba in 1901 during the Spanish-American War. Yet Bacardi’s account does have some holes as the Spanish-American war was in fact fought in 1898 and Cuba was liberated in 1898 yet Coca-Cola was not available in Cuba until 1900.
