This game will get the Scouts interest as it involves observation, speed, team work and is very
competitive. Split the troop into teams/patrols and position them at the opposite end of the hall
than you around their teams table. Randomly spread a newspaper on each teams table.
Once everything's set up get their attention (a loud blow on a whistle works) and then ask a
question. The question could be something like:
"On page 13 what is the price of a frozen chicken?"
Each team then has to find page 13 amongst all the bits of paper on the table and find the
answer to the question. In this example the answer would probably be part of an advert for a
frozen food store. Once the team believes they have found the answer then they have one designated
runner which must run over to you with the correct page and show you the answer.
When I did this game all Scouts of all ages loved it.
Other questions you could ask could be:
"First team to find a picture of Father Christmas"
"What is the telephone number of Dixons on page 27?"
"How much is the house at 23 Glendale road on page 77?"
