As well as having fun, the idea of this activity was to teach all of the Scouts how to do a
tripod lashing.
The basic idea is to build a steady tripod and attach a sling to one of the sides (see picture below).
The Japanese lashings at the base of the tripod keep the structure steady.
Once each Patrol had built their catapult have a context to see who can fire a ball the furthest.
In our contest Tiger patrol won, closely followed by Wolf.
